COMMUNITY SUPPORTED AGRICULTURE

WHAT IS A CSA?

CSA is short for Community Supported Agriculture. Members who purchase a “share” of our CSA will be provided with seasonally fresh produce grown from our farm each week for 16 weeks. Share sizes, half or full, vary depending on how many people the share will feed and time of year. A half share is enough produce to feed at least two people or a small family. Our more cost effective full share option provides enough produce to feed a family of 4 or 5. Our summer share spans from mid- June through October, and our fall share continues on from then until the first hard freeze (November/December). To get a better understanding of seasonal availability and the types of produce we provide, check out our Season at a Glance page!

We hold high quality standards to everything that we do so that when our food comes to you it is the best possible product. Our produce is guaranteed fresh and safe through the use of sustainable and organic practices such as composting, crop rotation, cover cropping, and companion planting. Buying a share from our farm connects you directly to local farmers and strengthens the social, economic, and environmental dynamics within our local communities. Shares are delivered to convenient locations in Cedar Rapids, Coggon, Independence, and Iowa City.

SUMMER SHARE

Beginning in mid-June, our summer share consists of at least 40 different types of fresh vegetables including more than 80 different varieties.

For 16 weeks you will receive everything from Arugula to Zucchini. In addition you will receive a weekly e-newsletter that will include farm updates, nutrition and health related information, relevant recipes, and safe food storage and processing tips.

We want to ensure that you are not only getting fresh, high-quality food but that you are able to utilize and enjoy it as well!

FALL SHARE

Following the week after the last summer share delivery, we provide a fall share that will span anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks.

Much of what we can provide late in the season is dependent on the weather, but expect to see items such as beets, broccoli, brussels sprouts, carrots, garlic, kale, kohlrabi, lettuce, onions, pumpkins, spinach, swiss chard, winter squash, and more.

As long as Mother Nature allows us, we will keep growing and providing produce!
